Jefferson Davis papers, 1830s-1880s.

A collection of letters, speeches, newspaper clippings, etc. The collection includes a portion of a galley print from a biography of Jefferson Davis, written by his wife Varina. The galley print is accompanied by a letter of authenticity written from the Library of Congress. Also included are various typed and hand written pages which appear to be a manuscript or research materials for another biography of Davis, perhaps written by J. William Jones. Letters in the collection include correspondence to Davis as president of the Confederate States of America.
